Nick Earl, a senior vice president at Electronic Arts, believes that launching high-profile titles like Battlefield and FIFA on mobile devices will not diminish the experience that players get on home consoles.

MCV says that he offered The Simpsons: Tapped Out as an example of how a mobile-only title can generate major revenue even if hardcore players never know about it.

The executive adds, “There is room for both in the lives of our consumers. The growth of the mobile market excites us because we’re able to reach more than one billion mobile gamers worldwide.”

FIFA 14 has free versions for mobile devices, which offer a cut-down experience of the football sim that’s available on the PC, the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3.

Battlefield 4 will also have companion apps that will run on mobiles in order to keep players connected to the experience at all times.
