Frank Gibeau, the leader of the labels division at publisher Electronic Arts, says that his company has never planned to buy developer LucasArts, directly contradicting information from sources inside the development studio.

The executive tells Kotaku that, “The entire game industry is in transition as we build more efficient organizations to deliver games on popular new platforms like mobile and consoles. EA is not currently considering any major acquisitions.”

The rumor appeared after Disney had announced that it would no longer use LucasArts to create first-party video games, although other developers will still have the chance to use well-known properties like Star Wars.

Recently, a leaked video has showed how the LucasArts team envisioned the future of the Battlefront series, with a number of interesting vehicle-based battles that used the best-known units of the game universe.
