Electronic Arts is aiming to nab in excess of $1 / €0.75 billion this year in DLC and add-on content sales alone, the bulk of which is expected to come from the company's sports franchises.

The information comes from a recent Bloomberg report, and John Reseburg, an EA spokesperson, confirmed that Madden NFL add-on revenue noticed a 350 percent year-on-year growth during the financial quarter ending June 30.

Keep in mind that this is right before the next big entry in the Madden franchise was launched, when sales were expected to trail off in preparation for the new launch. Madden NFL 15 came out on August 26 in North America and is coming out on August 29 in Europe, expected to sell like hotcakes, especially on next-gen platforms, where it truly shines.

Reseburg also noted that Madden NFL 15 would be a "major contributor" to the revenue that the company expected to come from the publisher's sports sector, and a prime source of its year-on-year growth.

Analyst firm Cowen & Co reports that Madden 15 is likely to generate over $350 / €265 million alone, from cover charge and DLC content.

Furthermore, the Ultimate Team feature in Madden is also likely to register an impressive growth and generate around $50 / €38 million in revenue alone this year, with Longbow Research stating that the "margins on Madden Ultimate Team are through the roof."

The add-on content featured in the company's other sports franchises, such as the Ultimate Team modes of the FIFA series, also noticed significant revenue gains over the same period last year, and Electornic Arts intends to stabilize its virtual economy and fully capitalize on its potential.

Among its ongoing efforts to improve its add-on features so it can squeeze more revenue from its customers, EA aims to enforce stricter rules when it comes to trading and farming in-game currency, including severe measures such as banning coin sellers and card-trading bots.

The rest of the Electronic Arts catalogue looks equally impressive, with Dragon Age: Inquisition, The Sims 4, FIFA 15 and NHL 15 still to come, all of them solid movers in established franchises.

On top of this, the company has already released a few more solid sellers this year, in the form of Titanfall, Ea Sports UFC, 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil and Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare.
