Trilogy Studios has officially opened its doors in Santa-Monica, claiming to have work on a next-generation console title already underway.

Three former executives from Electronic Arts and Vivendi Universal Games have decided to found a new development studio. They intend to "focus on developing next generation properties that will fill the creativity gap in game industry today."

Rick Giolito was the creative force behind the Medal of Honor
series, which remains one of EA's most successful franchises. Winner of five Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences awards, Giolito was responsible for driving more than one billion dollars of revenue during his time at EA.

EA veteran Mark Skaggs brings to the new studio 18 years of game development experience. Skaggs worked at EA Los Angeles on the acclaimed real-time strategy title, The Lord of the Rings, The Battle for Middle-earth, with older roots in the highly successful Command & Conquer Real-Time Strategy series.

The third exec (CEO of the newly formed Trilogy Studios) will be Michael Pole, former Vivendi Universal Games worldwide product development boss. With over 20 years experience, Pole has also served in similar roles for both Activision and Electronic Arts.

The first game developed by Trilogy Studios is a combination of First Person Shooter and RPG, and is billed as an episodic experience supporting downloadable content.
