
Soon after the approval of the E61 by the FCC, a new phone was announced by Nokia, the E62. The new model is a slightly modified version of the previous one, without 3G and
WiFi support. Another modification is the replacement of the Pop-Port with a miniUSB port, the
USB Mass Storage Mode making the PC see the phone as a hard disk.
For communication purposes the handset uses
EDGE
and GPRS. Bluetooth
GPS allows the user to access pieces of information concerning localization as well as traffic or weather.
The phone runs on
Symbian 9.1 and S60 3.0 and comes with a software offer that includes Quickoffice - which allows the editing and viewing of Word, Excel and Powerpoint documents on the mobile's screen or on a compatible projector thanks to the Screen Export feature; Zip Manager for creating and opening ZIP files; Flash Player for running Flash Lite animations; PDF viewer.
The mobile supports multiple e-mail solutions like Nokia Business, Intellisync, Visto, Seven, Exchange,
Blackberry.
Among the others features of the phone there are a 240 x 320 pixel, 256k colors TFT
display; music player with support for the
MP3, AAC, AAC and eAAC audio formats, the ability to print documents and voice activation of the phone's options.
The handset operates in GSM 850/1900 networks and is intended for the US market.
