Ubisoft has finally confirmed that Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Conviction is still in development and that the title should be released during this fall for the Xbox 360 home gaming console from Microsoft. With development handled by Ubisoft Montreal, the game is set to tell the story of series hero Sam Fisher as he is betrayed and on the run.

The game has been in development for a while now and some of the fans of Splinter Cell wondered whether Ubisoft would ever release it. Fortunately, there are some juicy details, showing off how the fighting and the looks of the game have changed.

The story of Conviction will focus on the betrayal of Sam Fisher by his former employer, the top secret agency Third Echelon. As always, as plot is unveiled, it will result in the death of millions of people and Fisher, the experienced agent, lacks the resources to stop the threat in time while also evading other agents who are interested in capturing him. Fisher is no longer limited by rules and only his own morality determines the way he will respond to the situation around him.

Ubisoft is saying that it plans to introduce new mechanics, like a system called Last Known Position, which will allow the player character to outflank enemies, while a new feature, called Mark and Execute, is set to allow the gamer to tag and then take out foes.

Ubisoft is also promising that Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Conviction will offer a host of new multiplayer modes and that the story will be better paced than in previous installments. Of course, a new graphics experience has also been talked about. Apparently, Sam Fischer will look better than before, even if he is on the run and a bit unshaven.
