There could not be a Nintendo E3 presentation without some Pokemon news for the devoted fans of the franchise. The new game announced is Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky, which is set to be developed in partnership by CHUNSOFT and The Pokemon Company and will arrive in the fall of 2009.

The game will be a role playing title in the same vein as Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time and Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Darkness, allowing the player to take on the role of a Pokemon and enjoy some pretty interesting adventures in the universe of the franchise. Be prepared to face off with creatures taken from the animated series but also with all new creations.

Explorers of Sky is being billed as a perfect entry point into the saga for players who have not enjoyed the previous two installments but as also offering enough fresh features to attract long time fans. The number of Pokemons in the game is huge, with 19 different creatures being offered at the start of the title, five of them wholly new, and with 490 other Pokemon appearing as non playable characters as the game progresses. The player can choose a partner as he/she explores the world, expanding the range of options he/she can access.

Co operative play is possible through the Wi-Fi connection and players will also be able to trade items using it. Apparently, some sort of interaction is being planned between those who have Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky and those who own Explorers of Time and Explorers of Darkness.

It also seems that special missions will be available to players who link up over the Wi-Fi connection. Gamers can also send a demo dungeon to friends, showing them what the videogame has to offer.
