Before the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) this year, Hideo Kojima's studio, Kojima Productions, treated us to a very extended and frustrating teaser campaign in order to get some hype around the announcements that the legendary game creator had prepared for the video game conference.

There was a heated debate about the letter featured on the teaser website, about its characters and about its meaning, but now, as E3 has already started, things are getting clear again. During Sony's E3 press conference, the legendary creator went on stage and revealed that a new Metal Gear Solid game would appear for the PlayStation Portable, including its new version, the PSP Go!, subtitled Peace Walker.

The game will be a full sequel to Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater and will act as a “missing link” in the MGS saga created by Kojima. Even though it will be for the PSP, the title will benefit from the game creator’s entire support and will see its story, script and design handled by him.

Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker will be a tactical-espionage game that picks up where MGS 3 left off, and will let players control the famous Solid Snake as he sets on a mission against the Outer Heaven in Costa Rica, in 1974.

Scheduled for 2010 and developed specifically with the PSP in mind, the title will set a new benchmark for games for this handheld console and will push the series in a new and interesting direction, thanks to the team at Kojima Productions and Konami.

“With Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, Kojima Productions has once again pushed the limits of the PSP system, creating a beautiful sequel to Metal Gear Solid®3,” said Martin Schneider, European marketing director for Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH. “Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker lets players take the action and excitement of a console game to the PSP, and is a stunning addition to MGS Lore.”

If you are not convinced of it yet, here is a trailer filled with interesting things and a classic ending for any MGS game. Enjoy and stay tuned to Softpedia for more details about this title.
