Taking advantage of the popularity of Lionel Messi, the Barcelona star player who decided the fate of the recent Champions League final in which his team faced Manchester United, Konami unveiled a new trailer for Pro Evolution Soccer 2010 at the E3 trade show this year, putting the talented attacker front and center.

The fresh trailer was put together with the intention of showing off the graphical quality of the game, which still has time to be polished off until the release date.

The new engine created by Konami for PES 2010 will allow the face of each player to be created using different textures, while gamers will be permitted to see the hair growing on the arms of players and the ways their T-shirts are weaved together. The game is also set to get a different dynamic lightning system that should deliver shadows in real time, increasing the feeling of reality.

The tactical aspect of PES 2010 is also getting a revamp, with the stated aim of making sure that players can no longer score goal after goal by using the same type of moves. The game will be able to adapt to the tactics of the player and offer more of a challenge. A new feature called “Power Gauge” is also being added, with a set of sliders that can control the team performing on offense and on defense.

Messi commented that “I am both a professional footballer and a huge PES fan, and am delighted to again be the front man for such an incredible football title as PES 2010. Although it has been a successful one, it has been a long and hard season, and I am looking forward to getting to grips with PES 2010 before the real thing starts again this year!”
