In a move that will make a lot of PC gamers all around the world start upgrading their computers, Electronic Arts and Crytek have announced the newest title in the Crysis franchise, Crysis 2. Based on the superior CryEngine 3, this fresh game will be the first multi platform one, as it will appear on the PC, the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3.

The team at Crytek that left everyone in the gaming industry struck with awe when it revealed the first Crysis, is now hard at work creating an even more beautiful first person shooter in the form of Crysis 2. The second part of the trilogy, this new title will continue the story of the original release and possibly feature more battles with evil aliens.

“The development of Crysis 2 marks a major stepping stone for our studio,” said Cevat Yerli, CEO and President of Crytek. “This is not only the next game in the Crysis franchise, it’s the first title we are developing for consoles and the first title being built on CryEngine 3. We are excited to have the support of EA Partners again as we work together to make the launch of Crysis 2 a huge event.”

His excitement is shared by the Senior Vice President and General Manager of EA Partners, David DeMartini, “Nothing speaks more to the success of the EA Partners program than when a studio the caliber of Crytek continues to work with us. Crytek is already one of the elite PC development studios in the world and we are excited to have the opportunity to partner with them in bringing their award-winning technology and gameplay to more platforms and a wider audience with Crysis 2.”

Sadly, no concrete details on what the story will be nor when the game is ready but we might get info in the following weeks. Until then, you can still enjoy the other Crysis games like the original Crysis: Warhead or the online Crysis: Wars.
