As you can imagine, Sony didn't miss the opportunity to once again proudly display its 3D support with the PlayStation 3 at the E3 2011 conference, this time showcasing a special PlayStation-branded 3DTV set which will be made available this fall.

Sony is always pushing 3D technology forward with the help of the PlayStation 3 home console, its games, as well as with the help of the Bravia 3DTV sets.

Now, in order to make things even simpler and more affordable, Sony presented a PlayStation-branded 3DTV at E3, which delivers a unique two-player experience.

The new 24" 3DTV delivers a full HD 1080p resolution but is capable of displaying two distinct images at the same time.

"The 3D Display utilizes an exclusive feature that optimizes two-player mode by delivering individual full HD screens, giving each person their own full screen view of the action on the same display while playing co-op or head-to-head," Sony said.

Basically, the new PlayStation 3DTV can display an image for a gamer sitting on its left side and a whole different image for the one sitting on the right, as highlighted in the photo above.

The device also has an "ultra-slim" PlayStation bezel design, as well as built-in speakers and a subwoofer for quality sound delivery.

The 3DTV comes with a pair of PlayStation-inspired 3D glasses, which have a similar design and a rechargeable battery, and can be purchased separately for $69.99, working not just with the PlayStation 3DTV but also with a variety of other active shutter 3DTV sets.

Each of the PlayStation 3D Displays will include the actual 3DTV, one pair of 3D glasses, an HDMI cable and a copy of the upcoming Resistance 3 PlayStation 3 game, all for $499.99, going on sale this fall across North America.

What do you think about the new device? Is it finally a 3DTV display regular gamers can invest in, or will you continue to use your PlayStation 3 hooked up to a regular HDTV or even an older, standard TV? Share your thoughts below.
