It’s a good thing that the last day of the E3 2011 trade show is a little shorter than the others because most of the people I got to see on the floor and in presentations looked a bit tired, but there was still plenty of time to see some exciting games that we’ll get to play in the coming months.

My first meeting was with the good people at Paradox Interactive, a company that specializes in creating strategy games that I personally love and is now expanding into more indie gaming and into the online space.

I first saw the PvP mode of free form wizard game Magicka, which is pretty exciting because it allows gamers to use spells created on the spot to zap their friends out of existence (although self harm is always a possibility).

I then moved on to King Arthur II, which continues to mix turn-based strategy and real time tactics, and was delighted to see that the game will have more options linked to province development and more detailed battles, with all new flying units.

Sword of the Stars II is also shaping up to be an impressive space-based 4X game, ready to swallow hundreds of hours of time, but the real highlight for me was Crusader Kings II, a game that mixes traditional strategy with a focus on family relations and personal intrigue.

With my strategy thirst somewhat quenched, I moved to the Bethesda space in the West Hall in order to see a presentation of the long-awaited action and role-playing mix The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and came out impressed by the look of the game and by the very exciting dragon battles and by the dual wielding possibilities.

And with that done, I also got my hands on RAGE, another superb experience, walked the floors one more time to again find that the cues for both the PlayStation Vita and the Nintendo Wii U were closed and then said goodbye to E3 for 2011.
