E2fsprogs, a tool which provides the filesystem utilities for use with the ext2 filesystem and which also supports the ext3 and ext4 filesystems, is now at version 1.42.8.

Highlights of E2fsprogs 1.42.8:

• The use of the -R option will no longer give a warning that has been deprecated; • Mke2fs will no longer give warnings about the bigalloc and quota options when it's in quiet mode; • If mke2fs receives an invalid journal size, it will exit; • Debugfs no longer gives erroneous error messages for certain extent_inode subcommands; • The parsing of the 's' (sectors) in parse_num_blocks2, which is used by mke2fs, has been fixed; • E2fsck will now detect and repair corrupted extent trees which contain invalid extents at the end of the extent tree leaf block.
