E-TEN G500 is now official

E-TEN Information Systems has officially announced the G500 PocketPC.

The G500 PocketPC is the first PDA phone to have fully integrated GPS capabilities. "The G500 represents our most complete package yet for the mobile professional. Building upon E-TEN's proven record as a successful Pocket PC Phone maker, we are offering our newest device with built-in GPS functionality," said company president, Wayne Ma.

In addition, E-TEN included several unique, in-house developed or licensed software applications that add even more value to the G500 package. For example Location SMS that integrates GPS and phone functions to enable users to send SMS text messages, including their precise GPS coordinates to any other SMS compatible phone or device.

The G500 supports GSM quad-band 850/900/1800/1900MHz and GPRS standards allowing users to make and receive voice calls, send SMS and access data services including email, mobile Internet, and MMS. The device is running on Windows Mobile 5.0 and uses a Samsung S3C2440 processor operating at 400 Mhz. It features a 240 x 320, 65,536 colors transmissive TFT-LCD display, 128MB of Flash ROM and 64MB SDRAM memory, 1,440mAh Li-Ion battery, which offers on average 3.5-4 hours of talk-time or 10-15 hours of PocketPC usage, 1.3M pixel CMOS camera with flash light and 4x digital zoom, allowing users to capture digital images, voice recordings, and even movies, and built in microphone.

The G500 will be available in most markets worldwide in March 2006.
