Officials have released previously classified information about the medical state of Boston Marathon bombing suspect, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev.

It appears that, after being captured, Tsarnaev displayed severe injuries including a gunshot wound to the head.

The bullet had gone through his mouth and exited his head through his lower cheek. The suspect has incurred a skull fracture as a result of the wound.

According to the Boston Globe, the information has been provided by Dr. Stephen Ray Odom, the physician treating him at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.

His injuries included fractures to the “middle ear, the skull base, the lateral portion of his C1 vertebrae, with a significant soft-tissue injury, as well as injury to the pharynx, the mouth, and a small vascular injury that’s been treated.”
