Dynasty Warriors 5 is a Chinese beat 'em up video game and the fifth installment in the Dynasty Warriors series, developed by Omega Force and published by Koei; the game was released on the PlayStation 2 and Xbox. It is based on the Chinese novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms by Luo Guanzhong. The gameplay of Dynasty Warriors 5 is based on its predecessors, the Edit Mode from Dynasty Warriors 4 returns and gives more options for players to customize their own officers, including editing the character's hair and face.
This game allows you to choose any motions from the original characters for your new officer, for example instead of giving your character a pike, spear or sword as of Dynasty Warriors 4, you can even give your character unique weapons like Sun Shang Xiang's chakrams or Zhuge Liang's feather fan (Note that this is not accessible in Dynasty Warriors 5 but only in Dynasty Warriors 5 Xtreme Legends and Empires). In addition, the stronghold feature from Dynasty Warriors 4 Empires makes their return in Dynasty Warriors 5.
Unlockables
Fourth Weapon Edit Play any level in Free mode on the Hard or Chaos difficulty setting and kill 1,000 enemies. You will get a message indicating that you have received a unique item. This is not an item you find, but a reward issued during the results/tally screen.
Fourth Weapons Level 4 weapons can only be found on hard difficulty (or higher), so a developed warrior is required (first player should be the officer getting the 4th weapon). A second player can assist when necessary. Otherwise, use the listed stages and conditions to earn a character's unique 4th weapon.
Fu Xi - Play any level on the Hard difficulty setting and get 1,000 kills to get Fu Xi's Great Sword.
Nu Wa - Play any level on the Hard difficulty setting and get 1,000 kills to get Nu Wa's Rapier.
Zou Ci - Play the Battle Of Hu Loa Gate and equip Crane Deck and True Musou. Make sure Zou Ci's stats are at least at three quarters full at character selection screen. Fight all officers on the left side of the map. Defeat two more officers before the gate. Have Musou Full and Musou Token.
Open the gate, then stand exactly where Lu Bu will be. Immediately after the FMV sequence, start the Musou attack. Lu Bu will then appear. When he does, he should be getting hit by the Musou attack. He will die at about six hits from the Musou attack. The reason this happens is that he is not powered up or glowing. This will
require practice.
Items and Costumes Items may be found on any setting. Items with scores attached will have higher averages on harder difficulties.
Bodyguard Manual - Play the Ten Eunuch's Rebellion level. Defeat Duan Gui, Cao Jie, and Hou Lan while keeping He Jin alive.
Naga Earrings - Play the Battle Of New Castle (Sima Yi, Xu Huang, Cao Pi). Kill 80 men, then kill all four generals outside of the castle before the gate opens. This item increases defense every 100 kills.
Extreme Musou Scroll - Play the Battle Of Mai Castle level (Guan Yu, Guan Ping, Xin Cai). Get 1,000 kills and a message that a precious item is in the castle will appear. This item increases the duration and damage of Musou.
Flying Dragon Armor - Play the Battle Of Qi Mountain level (Zhuge Liang, Wei Yan, Jiang Wei). Kill all enemy generals and sub generals. A precious item report will appear after the last one is killed. This item allows you to jump during charge attacks.
Green Scroll - Play the Battle Of Han Shui level and wait for Xu Huang to appear. When he is given the order to charge your main camp, defeat him. This item raises your attack, but also lowers your defense.
Ice Arrows - Play the Battle Of Yang Ping Gate level (Cao Cao, Cao Ren, Xiahou Yuan, Zhang He). Kill twenty stone statues in less than five minutes. This item adds ice damage to your arrows.
Kirin Hoof - Play the Duel In Nan Zhong level (Meng Huo, Zhu Rong). Kill Xu Huang in less than ten minutes or before the beast troops get through the center. This item makes your animal stronger.
Meat Bun Sack - Play the Battle Of Jia Meng Gate level (Zhang Fei, Zhuge Liang, Wei Yan). Kill Yang Ren, Yang Ang, and Yang Song. This item increases the chance of soldiers dropping Meat Buns. Note - You also may be awarded the Demon Band if it appears in Zhang Lu's camp.
Vampire Armor - Play the Ten Eunuch's Rebellion level (Dong Zhou, Yuan Shao). Allow Dong Zhou's fake Ten Eunuchs plan to succeed and defeat the Bandit leader four times. This item allows you to block at the moment an enemy attacks to get a +50 Health.
Custom Costume 2 (male or female) - Learned Charge and Level 1 Health; reached class "Sergeant".
Custom Costume 3 (male or female) - Learned at least one of Archery or Search skills; reached class "Sergeant".
Custom Costume 4 (male or female) - Learned Musou and Level 2 Health; learned Plate Mail or Basic (Mount skill); reached class "Major".
Custom Costume 5 (male or female) - Learned at least two of Leader and Search skills; reached class "Major".
Custom Costume 6 (male or female) - Learned at least two of Leader and Tactic skills; reached class "Major".
Custom Costume 7 (male or female) - Bad contribution rating on any stage (your officer will scold at you after the stage and you will get this costume instantly).
Custom Costume 8 (male or female) - Learned Rage (Kakesei) and Level 3 Health; learned at least two of Advanced (Mount skill), March or Rally (Leader skills); reached class "Lt. General".
Custom Costume 9 (male or female) - Learned at least six of Leader, Tactic and Search skills; reached class "Lt. General".
Custom Costume 10 (male) - After 8 stages, a total of 1500 skills or more.
Custom Costume 10 (female) - Play for all three kingdoms once (spy two times).
