At the start of this month, Microsoft made available Update Rollup 5 for Dynamics CRM 4.0. The bits went live on the Microsoft Download Center last week and are now up for grabs for all users running the customer relationship management solution from the Redmond company. With the Update Rollups, the software giant is essentially offering customers a cumulative collection of updates. Microsoft explained that the refreshes, developed with a strong focus on enhancing performance, were bundled into a single package in order to streamline the deployment process for business customers.

“The build number of the update rollup packages for the Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 server, for the Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 client for Microsoft Office Outlook, and for the Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 E-mail Router is 4.00.7333.1644,” Microsoft explained. “Update Rollup 5 is a cumulative update rollup that includes all the fixes for the issues that are documented in Update Rollup 1, Update Rollup 2, Update Rollup 3, and Update Rollup 4.”

Update Rollup 5 for Dynamics CRM 4.0 is designed, according to Microsoft, to maintain the “parity between the application components” of the product. In this regard, customers will see that updates are in fact delivered for the following solutions: Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 Server, Microsoft Dynamics CRM for Outlook, Microsoft Dynamics CRM Data Migration Manager, Microsoft Dynamics CRM Language Packs, and Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 E-mail Router.

“After you apply this update rollup, you may be unable to import customizations that have been exported from the same Microsoft Dynamics CRM deployment that had an earlier update rollup installed,” Microsoft explained. “Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 Update Rollup 5 contains hotfixes and updates that you must manually enable or configure. In addition to the functional enhancements and fixes in Update Rollup 5, a separate update to Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 Help is also available in all supported languages.”

The Redmond company indicated that customers running the 32-bit versions of Dynamics CRM needed to download and install: CRMv4.0-KB970141-i386-Server- LangID .exe; CRMv4.0- KB970141-i386-Client- LangID .exe; CRMv4.0- KB970141-i386-Router- LangID .exe; and CRMv4.0- KB970141-i386-SRS- LangID .exe. Similarly, customers with 64-bit solutions have available CRMv4.0- KB970141-amd64-Server- LangID .exe; CRMv4.0- KB970141-amd64-Router- LangID .exe; and
CRMv4.0- KB970141-amd64-SRS- LangID .exe.
