Midsize retailers that will leverage Microsoft Dynamics AX for Retail when it becomes available in a little over one month will also have the possibility to expand the product with additional solutions designed especially for the retail midmarket by Aldata. Retailers that deal in home electronics, but also companies focusing on sports and fashion merchandise will be the first to get Aldata Retail solutions on Dynamics AX for Retail. According to the Redmond company, the new vertical applications from Aldata are designed to complement the default features and capabilities of Dynamics AX for Retail.

“The agreement with Aldata demonstrates the ability of Microsoft Dynamics AX for Retail to provide a solid, scalable foundation for the retail environment,” Crispin Read, general manager, Microsoft Dynamics ERP, revealed. “Aldata’s deep experience in the retail sector, as well as a delivery and support organization around the globe, help bring the benefits of Microsoft Dynamics AX for Retail to retailers worldwide.”

Replenishment and Merchandising Optimization, Store and POS Management, and Loyalty and Digital Marketing modules would be integrated in the retail solutions, and tailored to the specific needs of midsize retailers, Microsoft promised. Although the new apps from Aldata will be provided for Dynamics AX for Retail in Finland, the solutions will subsequently be offered to retailers around the world. Microsoft is gearing up to release Dynamics AX for Retail on August 1, 2010, on no less than 16 countries. More markets will be added come 2011.

“At Aldata, our strategy is to focus all of our people, products and services on continuous retail business improvement. Our agreement with Microsoft will allow us to deliver this continuous improvement to a wider retail audience with the support of a global brand and stability of Microsoft SQL Server,” Allan Davies, Aldata’s chief marketing officer, said. “We believe the combination of Aldata’s specialist retail capability and Microsoft Dynamics AX for Retail provides a fast and flexible way for midsize retailers to gain new cost, inventory and service benefits at low risk and low total cost of ownership.”
