Dynamics AX 2012 was recently showcased at Convergence 2011, with the first Beta already available for download to customers with Partner Source accounts. Obviously, the next major iteration of this enterprise resource planning solution brings to the table a consistent evolution compared to its predecessor, and a new resource available from Microsoft is designed precisely to highlight it.

Those interested in gaining insight into the upcoming Dynamics AX 2012 can grab a document from the Microsoft Download Center which highlights the new, changed, and deprecated features of the ERP solution.

“Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 introduces many new features and technologies that were not available in previous versions,” the software giant reveals.

“Additionally, changes introduced in Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 update a number of existing features and technologies significantly to help increase system security, user productivity, and reduce administrative overhead.

“This document describes new and changed features for Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012. It also includes deprecated feature notices for features that are planned to be removed in Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 or future versions.”

The Redmond company makes a point to highlight the modifications that existing customers of Dynamics AX 2009 will encounter when using Dynamics AX 2012.

At the same time, customers will be able to get information on the features that they will no longer be able to rely on and plan accordingly.

Dynamics AX 2012 is slated for release in August 2011, according to the software giant.

Since Dynamics AX 2012 continues to be a work in progress, it might also be a good idea for customers to monitor the document describing the new, changed, and deprecated features.

With Dynamics AX 2012 in beta stage, Microsoft points out that the resource is still very much a draft and that modifications could be introduced as the ERP solution evolves toward RTM.
