The North American retail launch won't be affected

Techland, developers of the upcoming Dying Light zombie survival action, has just announced that the physical release of the game will be slightly delayed in some territories.

While North Americans can rest easy as the game will be available in retail stores on January 27, those who pre-ordered the game in Europe, Middle East, Africa, Asia and Australia should expect slight delays in receiving Dying Light.

However, the digital release of the title hasn't been affected, so everyone should expect to be able to download it on January 27 in North America and January 30 in the rest of the world (including Europe). Here is the official statement posted by Techland on the official Facebook page of Dying Light:

“There will be a short delay in the release of physical copies of Dying Light in Europe, Middle East, Africa, Asia and Australia. The game will have a global digital release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC of January 27, 2015.

“As physical production has a longer lead time than digital there is some delay in the aforementioned territories. We will share information on the availability of physical copies as soon as it is confirmed.”

No exact release date has been given yet

Unfortunately, judging by the statement above, there's no telling how long the physical copies of Dying Light will be delayed in Europe and the rest of the territories mentioned earlier.

Techland clearly doesn't have all the facts yet, otherwise they would have announced how long those who pre-ordered physical copies will have to wait for their game.

While it's possible that the retail version of Dying Light might only be delayed for a few days, many customers do look angry and some even canceled their pre-orders following Techland's announcement.

Here is hoping that Techland will come forward with more details on the delay and that the physical version of Dying Light won't be postponed for too long.
