Techland has announced the release date for its upcoming horror survival video game Dying Light, now set to debut in January 2015, earlier than expected.

The news comes from a tweet from the studio, delivering the good news without much fuss. The open-world zombie slaying adventure game is heavy on parkour and stealth gameplay, and looks like one of the most interesting entries in the apocalyptic genre, at least from a mechanical standpoint.

The first-person perspective and freedom of movement, alongside the exciting and rich interactions within the game world, set it up to be a very strong presence come the beginning of next year.

The upcoming game blends some of the most interesting and gameplay-rich video games ever released, looking like an inspired mashup of Mirror's Edge, Assassin's Creed, Far Cry, and Dead Rising.

Developer Techland has also announced that those who pre-order the game will get a free DLC game mode called Be The Zombie, in which they can invade other players' games as a pretty strong undead dude with a name worthy of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer": Night Hunter.

Dying Light is coming out on January 27 in North America and January 30 in Europe, headed to the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC platforms.
