Developer Techland confirms that PC users will have to meet some steep minimum and recommended system requirements if they want to play the upcoming Dying Light open world zombie survival game, but in order to still keep them hyped up, the team also showcases a fresh gameplay video.

Dying Light launches next month and developer Techland is currently putting the finishing touches on the impressive-looking zombie survival game. Quite a lot of people are already hyped up about the experience, as not only does it feature a rich open world filled with undead to massacre, but it also has mechanics such as parkour that helps elevate the experience over previous Techland titles, like Dead Island.

The game receives its minimum and recommended requirements

After checking out quite a few new details in recent months, the studio has revealed the minimum and recommended PC requirements on the official Dying Light Steam page and they're quite steep, to say the least, in terms of both the graphics cards and the amount of RAM PC users need to have in their system.

First up, a 64-bit operating system is mandatory, starting with Windows 7 and continuing with 8 and 8.1, so those with Vista or XP cannot even try to run the game when it comes out next month.

Afterwards, users need to have a CPU of at least the same level as Intel Core i5 2500 at 3.3GHz or an AMD FX-8320 at 3.5GHz. For the recommended settings, the requirement jumps a bit to Intel Core i5-4670K at 3.4GHz and AMD FX-8350 at 4.0GHz.

The hard drive space remains the same across both lists of requirements, as around 40GB of free space is needed by the new game.

The RAM and GPU requirements are very high

In terms of RAM and GPU, however, Dying Light is a very demanding game. At the minimum, PC users need to have 8GB of memory, and to run the game at the recommended settings, at least 16GB of RAM are needed.

The minimum graphics cards are the Nvidia GeForce GTX 670 and AMD Radeon HD 7870, while the recommended ones are the Nvidia GeForce GTX 780 and AMD Radeon R9 290.

No exact reasoning has been given by the Polish studio for these demanding requirements, so it's unclear just how the title will use the power of the hardware. It's also unclear if users with less than 8GB will be able to play the game or they'll be locked out.
