14 DAY TRIAL // Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson would like to share a secret with his fans: he will be playing John Stewart aka Green Lantern in an upcoming DC Comics movie, which he also teased on Twitter at the beginning of the year.
The other day, the beloved wrestler turned very successful actor posted the image above with a text that ended with a hashtag that hinted he will play Green Lantern. Confused yet? Don’t be.
The hashtag in question was “John Stewart Can Still Whup Supermans [Butt]” and, as IGN says, there’s really no reason to end an apparently random Instagram message with a Green Lantern reference unless you’re trying to say something on the topic.
Something that, perhaps, you’re not at liberty yet to shout from rooftops but which you really want your fans to know.
And, because you can’t say it out loud just yet, you’re only hinting at it and, when asked directly about it, you deny it. It’s been done before, it’s common practice.
Asked by the aforementioned publication if he just “reveal[ed] that he's playing John Stewart/Green Lantern?,” The Rock says, “All I said was.. #LanternCanWhupSuperman.”
