“Terminator: Salvation” has long been shelved as a failed experiment, so don’t expect Christian Bale or Sam Worthington to return to the franchise for the fifth installment, which should start shooting early next year.
According to new reports cited by Coming Soon, though, you should probably expect Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson to take over, which – I hope you will agree with me – is a brilliant idea, especially after he almost single-handedly revitalized the “G.I. Joe” and “Fast and Furious” franchises.
Word is that Johnson is now in talks with producers to star as lead in “Terminator 5.”
Other reports, this time cited by Movies.com, note that Nicolas Winding Refn (director of “Bronson,” “Drive” and the most recent “Only God Forgives”) is being wooed to helm it.
With Johnson, Refn and the gorgeous Terminator mythology, this could be a smashing hit, without a single trace of doubt. Would you pay to see The Rock in the role made iconic by Arnold Schwarzenegger?
