The Orvillecopter was named after the man’s cat

Bart Jansen turned his stuffed cat into a very controversial work of art. After being hit by a car in 2011, Orville lives on as the world's first flying cat.

The Orvillecopter was debuted at the Kunstrai art festival in Amsterdam, the Telegraph reports. It was built by Orville’s owner, with the help of helicopter pilot Arjen Beltman.

Orville's stuffed body now has rotors attached to its paws, making for a funny yet possibly grotesque radio-controlled device.

Jansen plans to develop the project further, by adding larger rotors to the cat-machine. He claims this is what Orville would have wanted, as he was always chasing birds around.

"Oh how he loved birds. […] He will receive more powerful engines and larger props for his birthday,” the Dutch artist says.

The cat was named after Orville Wright, one half of the brother duo that built the first sustainable airplane in 1903.
