Florentijn Hofman is a Dutch sculptor that often plays with recognizable objects, turning them into works of art that not even the most cynical can ignore.
Such is the case of the giant rubber ducky. The ducks are pieces in his latest product series. Hofman sends out the giant plastic sculptures loose in big cities around the world.
The biggest duck so far is said to be 26 meters (105ft), almost the size of a 10-story building. It was displayed in St-Nazaire, France, according to the TwistedSifter
Other Unidentified Floating Objects matching the duck's description were spotted in Japan, New Zealand, The Netherlands, Brazil, Germany and Belgium.
"The Rubber Duck knows no frontiers, it doesn’t discriminate and doesn’t have a political connotation. […] The friendly, floating Rubber Duck has healing properties: it can relieve mondial tensions as well as define them," the artist said, explaining his vision.
