Capcom promised console gamers would get the best user-created maps, and here they are

Although the level editor for Dustforce, found on its PC version, will not make its way to any consoles any time soon, the developers kept their promise to release some of the best maps created through it for console players to enjoy.

Dustforce is a platforming game that incorporates various elements of Mega Man and Strider into its gameplay and finishes it all up with some great art and music.

The premise is less heroic than one would be accustomed to from games such as Castlevania, as, instead of protecting the world from evil, players take control of a crack team of janitors in order to save it from the corruption of dust.

Each janitor has slightly different statistics, such as how high they can jump, and players have to use a ton of acrobatic moves, such as wall jumps, double jumps and air dashes, in order to navigate the challenging levels.

Gamers are invited to progress through the game's over fifty levels and clean up the sections covered by leaves, and engage in fast-paced combat with various filth-covered creatures.

When Dustforce was launched back in February, developer Hitbox Team mentioned that the editor would not make its way into the console ports.

"We looked into it and it would've been fantastic to have, but it wasn't something we could do for this title on console. However, we will be releasing a large chunk of the best maps created on the PC version for free on the Vita and PSN versions," Capcom Senior Producer Rey Jimenez stated when the game was launched.

Today, that promise has come true in the form of a Dustforce Beta Map Pack, bundling together the best user-created maps on PC and delivering them on the consoles. The best news about it is that they are being offered completely free for all owners of Dustforce.

The Dustforce Beta Map Pack is available as a title update for the Xbox 360 on Xbox Live and as a regular download on the PlayStation Network for the PlayStation Vita and PlayStation 3 versions of the game.

Publisher Capcom intends to release the next bundle of Dustforce maps on June 3, in an effort to compensate for all the fun that PC users are having with the level editor.

Dustforce was launched on PC, Mac and Linux in 2012, and it is also available on the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita systems since February, and for the Xbox 360 home entertainment system since April.
