All races in the MMO now have a faction specific weapon

The development team at CCP announces that the upcoming 1.7 patch for its Dust 514 is designed to add two new important weapons to the MMO: the Minmatar Combat Rifle and the Caldari Rail Rifle, both designed to expand the tactical options for all gamers.

The team explains in a blog post that, “This is important because each race favors a particular weapon archetype, each of which possesses a unique damage, range and behavior profile designed to suit a particular play style. But before we get to that, let’s take a look at the weapons themselves.”

Race specific weapons offered in Dust 514 already include the Assault Rifle for the Gallente and the Scrambler Rifle for the Amarr.

The Minmatar weapon comes in two versions: one with a long range scope and a three-bullet burst fire more and another fully automatic one that uses iron sights and needs to be unlocked.

The Caldari rail rifle standard package is slow firing, but fully automatic with good accuracy when firing on the move and an assault version can also be obtained, with a higher rate of fire and reduced range, which can be a problem given that the gun requires a short period of loading before it actually fires.

The team at CCP goes on to offer a wealth of information on the damage profiles of the Minmatar Combat Rifle and Caldari Rail Rifle and compares them to other hardware that players can use in Dust 514.

Developers are saying that they have long-term plans to enhance the weapon line-up for all included factions and that more in-game events will be offered to keep gamers engaged.

Dust 514 is at the moment offered on the PlayStation 3 from Sony and will also have a version for the newly launched PlayStation 4, complete with upgraded visuals.
