14 DAY TRIAL // Dungeons of Aledorn is an old-school hardcore role-playing game that takes inspiration from great classics such as Betrayal at Krondor, Realms of Arcania, Might & Magic, King's Bounty, and the Fallout series.
Developer Team21 is currently undergoing a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter, aiming to raise the necessary funds to get the game off the ground. The studio already has a working pre-alpha technical demo, showcasing the work done so far and the general mood of the game, if you'd rather get a taster before pledging.
The independent developers aim to bring back some of the classic principles of role-playing games and to create an experience geared toward old-school fans who can appreciate a challenge.

A role-playing game geared toward realism
Dungeons of Aledorn will emphasis realism, at least as far as it is possible in the realm of fantasy. Players will have a wide selection of actions to choose from in combat, but only a few of them will be optimal, which means that every decision you make will bring you closer or further away from victory.
Cheesy tactics such as drawing out a battle in order to regenerate mana and hit points will not be part of the menu Dungeons of Aledorn offers, especially since the entire combat system is designed in an innovative way.
Instead of relying on a certain number of hit points that have no effect on the game until a character reaches a value equal to or below zero, DoA employs a more realistic approach where each character only has a few hit points, and the loss of each one comes with great consequences and is difficult to regain.
In addition to this, the game will also make use of a stamina system, enabling characters to evade incoming attacks, and to only get wounded when they get too tired and weak to block, parry or dodge.
