Amplitude Studios announces that Dungeon of the Endless, its roguelike and tower defense hybrid, is leaving Early Access and getting a full launch on October 27.

The developer has released a new video, setting the scene of the events unfolding in the game, thanking the many players who supported Amplitude Studios when developing the game, through purchases and feedback.

Dungeon of the Endless takes place in the same universe that the company's other games, Endless Space and Endless Legend, take place in, but offers an intriguing experience mixing together a couple of different video game genres.

The game follows the survivors of a crashed spaceship, who find themselves stranded on a distant, alien planet and have to collect resources in order to be able to get back home.

Players construct various base improvements and then collect new resources by entering new rooms and killing all the enemies that attack their base, using static defenses and their heroes, which can gain new abilities when leveling up.

The title has a vividly colored and very expressive visual style, with lovely pixel graphics, and is a lot of fun, as well as offering a veritable challenge to those who try it out, largely due to its unexpected complexity.

The game is coming out October 27, for Windows PC and Mac OS X.
