The team behind Endless Space decided that their resource system for the space strategy 4X game could come in handy in other types of games, and as such decided to introduce the roguelike genre to the wonders of FIDS.

FIDS is an acronym for food, industry, dust (moolah) and science, the pillars of civilization in the trans-genre game Dungeon of the Endless, which is basically a mix of science fiction and fantasy roguelike where you explore new rooms, level up and gear up your heroes and build your base and place strategic turrets in order to fend off waves of enemy monsters.

Developer Amplitude Studios has just released a new trailer, showing some pixelated circus-trained pugs explaining the gist of the roguelike tower defense game.

Dungeon of the Endless features gorgeously vivid pixel art and has all the elements needed to provide an engrossing experience. You can level up your heroes and give them better abilities, you have to manage the limited space to expand your base, complete with research and resource gathering facilities, and most of all you have to kill a lot of fiendish invaders every time you open a new door in your quest for resources.

The team plans to add four-players co-op as well as a visual log that tracks player progress, along with a series of collectible digital cards, sometime in the near future.

Dungeon of the Endless is currently available on Steam Early Access.
