The highly anticipated Dungeon Defenders: First Wave tower defense game designed by Trendy Entertainment has just been announced and will hit the Android Market starting December 23rd. This will be the first game that brings the Unreal Engine technology on Android platform

Trendy Entertainment has already released the iOS version of the game a week ago and expects the same hot sales for its Android iteration.

The Unreal Engine technology that powers Dungeon Defenders: First Wave is the same used in the best-selling Infinity Blade on the same Android platform.

“The game runs by far best on Tegra 2 out of any mobile device we've put the title onto. It's nearly a portable PC level of graphics capability. So while the game doesn't require Tegra 2, we do prefer to play it that way here, which provides an HD resolution, the highest quality textures, and a set of levels that simply could not be rendered on the lower-spec devices.” said Jeremy Stieglitz, Development Director.

MMORPG fans will be able to purchase this tower defense online action-RPG directly from Android Marketplace for $2.99.

Even though it requires an Internet connection, the game includes both online and offline epic campaigns, as well as challenge missions, leaderboards. 4 player co-op play via GameSpy is included, as well.

Currently, the game is available in multiple languages: English, French, German, Italian and Spanish, but additional languages may be supported in the future.

The game has been rated “Everyone: 10+” and it is said to run best on Nvidia Tegra.

The requirements of the game are detailed below:

- 512 MB RAM; - GPU capable of OpenGL ES 2.0; - Android 2.1 Eclair; - 800 Mhz CPU or greater recommended; - SD card with at least 400 MB free storage.
