Aspyr Media has released an update for the Mac version of Duke Nukem Forever delivering bug fixes and other improvements, but most importantly, bringing cross platform multiplayer support to let Mac users Duke it out against Windows PC gamers.

The Mac-centric video-games publisher announced today, “Big news for Duke Nukem fans! Aspyr has recently finished work on the latest Duke Nukem Forever patch, and the update should be live shortly (if it isn’t already).”

“The patch matches pretty much everything from the initial PC patch, including the ability to carry up to four weapons in single player,” says Aspyr Media.

The really cool change is, of course, cross-platform multiplayer. Aspyr has put together a short FAQ to answer some of the questions gamers may have about this update.

“If we missed anything, let us know in the comments!”, says Aspyr.

In addition to delivering Mac-to-PC multiplayer compatibility, the Duke update brings a 4-weapon inventory option (single player only), MP Server favorites, the ability tot modify FOV and to change VOIP to push-to-talk (bandwidth fix), a VAC anti-cheat system, texture quality improvements and an auto-aim fix, to name some of the most important changes.

The update also includes fixes to prevent single player and multiplayer save data corruption, as well as a bunch of crash/compatibility fixes and a leaderboard exploit.

System requirements for the Mac version of Duke Nukem Forever include Mac OS X 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard) or Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion), an Intel Core 2 Duo (Dual-Core) CPU running at 2.4 GHz, at least 2 GB of memory, 10 GB of free disk space, ATI Radeon 2600 or NVidia Geforce 8600 graphics with at least 256 MB of Vram, and Macintosh mouse and keyboard.
