Duke Nukem fans are advised to pick up the Borderlands Game of the Year Edition this week, in order to get a special coupon through which they can download a demo for the often rumored and speculated Duke Nukem Forever.

But that doesn't mean other people won't be able to enjoy the Duke Nukem goodness in the future, as a Gearbox representative has revealed that the demo will be released for everyone when the time is right.

"The demo is going to go out to everybody, yeah," Gearbox's marketeer Steve Gibson revealed.

"When we put Borderlands out this wasn't even possible to do or contemplate. So that's kind of difficult, but yeah, the demo is coming out for everybody.

This demo will finally convince players that Duke Nukem Forever is coming and that it will finally deliver on the promise it made some 13 years ago.

"We want people to know that, 'Holy [expletive], they're actually making plans!'" he said.

"These guys are making concrete plans, they're putting stuff in a box already with Duke's face on it. It's actually like a certificate, and you'll see that it's like 'In Duke We Trust'. It's fun. We're thrilled to death."

Duke Nukem Forever was announced 13 years ago by 3D Realms, but it became a sort of running gag in the industry as it always teased fans through screenshots or videos but it was never complete, and eventually led to the bankruptcy of 3D Realms.

Now, Gearbox Software is picking up the bits and pieces and revealed a few months ago that Duke Nukem will be back, and that Forever will be finished.

If you want to get a taste of the title as soon as possible, then you should pick up the Borderlands Game of the Year Edition that appears today, October 12, in North America, and on October 15 in Europe.
