After a never-ending development cycle filled with delays, a period when it almost seemed it was dead and a glorious revival, Duke Nukem Forever, the game that will not die, has now been delayed once more by its developer, Gearbox Software.

While this may be taken as a preemptive April Fools joke, it seems that the delay is actually true, with Gearbox president Randy Pitchford making an official statement through a pretty funny video about the delay.

In it, Pitchford hypes up the work his team at Gearbox has been doing since they took over the Duke Nukem Forever project, saying that everybody is working hard to get the game ready for its release in May, but, at the end, he sees that the game was pushed back.

Duke Nukem Forever won't be making its scheduled release date of May 3, so gamers will now have to wait until June 10, when it is released around the world, and June 14, when it arrives in North America.

Duke Nukem Forever has been in development for a huge amount of time, as work first started at the 3D Realms studio back in 1997, and ended in 2009, when the studio went bankrupt and the publisher, 2K Games, took its remains to court to recover its massive losses.

Seeing as how most of its development process was plagued by delays and other scandals, many believed the game would be forgotten, and everyone would go back to their daily gamer lives.

Gearbox Software begged to differ, and gathered up all of the work that had been done on the project, and promised to see Duke Nukem Forever to fruition.

Since then, we saw demos, videos and lots of other details appear, all seemingly pointing to a release date of May 3, when 2K Games and Gearbox promised to have it ready.

Now, it seems that the Duke Nukem Forever curse has struck again, and the two companies, despite all of the wishes, are forced to delay it until June.

Until then, Duke Nukem fans should continue to wait, which they did for almost 14 years now.

If it's any consolation, check out the video of Pitchford announcing the delay below.
