This Sunday, the New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks will come face to face at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. Apparently, folks in the US are already making preparations for this upcoming Super Bowl.

The problem is that, as it turns out, some people are a tad too eager to have friends and family over for a monstrous Super Bowl party. Thus, Sunday's game is believed to be the reason earlier this month a man stole copious amounts of food from a BBQ store.

How one guy stole enough food to feed a small army

According to police officers in the city of Jacksonville in Florida, it was on January 21 that a man broke into a local Jerome Brown BBQ store and stole a whole lot of chicken, ribs and fries, together with a cash register.

It is understood that, all in all, the man, whose identity is still a mystery, stole approximately $4,000 (€3,500) worth of food. Mind you, word has it that the BBQ-enthusiast also took some oil and baked beans. Otherwise put, he got all the ingredients needed to make a perfect meal.

“An unknown suspect gained entry into the business by prying open the side door. Once inside, the suspect stole $4,000 worth of chicken, ribs, fries, and wings and an empty cash register,” a police spokesperson told the press in an interview, as cited by Mirror.

Although this is probably not the case, police officers like to think that the man stole this much food because he wants to host the best BBQ party there ever was this coming Super Bowl Sunday. Then again, it could be that he was just really hungry.

Just a matter of time until he is arrested

Hoping to identify the suspect and catch him, police officers in Jacksonville, Florida decided to release surveillance footage showing him walking around the Jerome Brown BBQ store and picking and choosing which chicken wings looked tasty enough to steal.

They ask that anyone who knows who this man might be contact them and help bring him to justice. “We wish whoever knows something about it, just turn them in. A close friend might know him. Just turn him in, because it’s hurting everybody,” store manager Ericka Morris also urged.
