Just to put things into perspective, it need be said that the house covers 1,500 square meters (16,145 square feet)

About two years ago, Xiao Yongsheng decided that he wanted to give his house an extreme makeover. However, he didn't feel like spending money on hiring architects or designers.

Faced with this dilemma, he decided that there was not much else he could do but take matters into his own hands and get to work renovating the house himself.

According to Oddity Central, this man lives on Lingshan Island, just off the coast of the city of Qingdao in China. He owns part of the local beach, and very much enjoys exploring it as often as he gets the chance.

Hence, he said to himself that it might not be such a bad idea to start collecting seashells and gluing them to his house. Eventually, the man woke up to find that he had single-handedly covered every inch of his home in seashells.

Just to put things into perspective, it need be said that this man's house covers an area of about 1,500 square meters (16,145 square feet). Simply put, he must have collected thousands of seashells to complete this project.

“I used them for everything. For decoration, for roof tiles, as handles, and even crushed up to make mosaics. They are everywhere,” the 58-year-old man said in a statement.

“I didn’t do this for anyone else or to turn my home into an exhibition,” he added. “I just did it because I wanted to make my home beautiful for myself.”

As noticeable in the photo next to this article and in the one below, Xiao Yongsheng used both freakishly small and surprisingly big seashells to decorate his home.

The man says that he is very proud of what his house looks like, and even uses it as a museum documenting the island's history and the life of the people who inhabit it.
