Just days ago, a young man named Alberto Julian Meza was taken into custody by police officers in Paraguay. The man, featured in the photos accompanying this article, stands accused of robbing several elderly women.

What's odd is that, according to the police report concerning this case, the victims themselves were the ones who let Alberto Julian Meza into their home.

Even weirder, it appears that the young man's victims all agreed to welcome him into their house because they were convinced that he was an overgrown child and, therefore, not a threat to them.

How does one mistake an adult for a child?

Oddity Central tells us that, to gain access into his victims' homes, 25-year-old Alberto Julian Meza put on adult diapers and then walked around the neighborhood, pretending to be an overgrown child desperately searching for his mother.

Not at all surprisingly, most of the people he chanced to come across during these pilgrimages of his simply labeled him a nutcase and ignored him. Several elderly women, however, were tricked and let him into their home.

While these ladies were busy getting Alberto Julian Meza a refreshment or some snack to comfort him, the man got to inspect their house and stole whatever sparked his interest. Apparently, the 25-year-old spent years pretending to be a child before the police finally arrested him.

“He has been doing this for years and I know the police have had complaints before, but it’s incredible they never realized the baby is actually a fully grown man,” said Lara Orta Ornelas, a resident of the town of Villa Elisa in Paraguay.

How the 25-year-old was finally arrested

The reason it took police officers this long to finally arrest Alberto Julian Meza is that, being old and confused, his victims all kept referring to the person who had robbed them as a child. Hence, the police had no idea that they were looking for a grown man.

It was only when one of his victims told authorities that their wallet had been stolen by a young man dressed in an adult diaper that authorities figured out that it was 25-year-old Alberto Julian Meza that they were supposed to arrest.

Seeing how this guy has been robbing people for several years now, it's safe to assume that, now that he is finally in police custody, he will be sentenced to spending quite a long while behind bars.
