The man claims falling down the 30 concrete steps is his way of giving the muscles in his body a proper massage

Falling down a flight of stairs is not anybody's idea of having a good time, unless the stairs are made of cotton candy and also have gummy bears attached to them so that the free faller can enjoy a sugary snack on the way down.

Oddly enough, word has it that there is a man who not only very much enjoys tumbling down stairs, but purposely goes looking for such experiences each and every morning, right after getting out of bed.

Mind you, the stairs he likes to fall down on look nothing like the infrastructure in Katy Perry's “California Gurls.” On the contrary, they are made of concrete. Cold, hard concrete.

Introducing stairs lover Li Chia

51-year-old Li Chia currently lives in Xi'an, in China. Every morning, he visits the local Changle Park, and gets busy rolling his body down as many as 30 concrete steps installed in this part of the city.

After making it all the way to the bottom, he rolls himself back up the stairs. Once he is done with this peculiar morning routine, he simply picks himself up, dusts himself off and goes home to deal with whatever is on the day's agenda.

Despite the fact that he has been rolling up and down stairs in Xi'an's Changle Park for about 3 years now, 51-year-old Li Chia does not have any bruises or other injuries that might hint at the weird experience he puts himself through every single morning.

On the contrary, the man looks very healthy and ready to take on the world. In fact, Oddity Central tells us that he is a marathon runner, and that he occasionally rides a motorcycle. In a nutshell, his body is anything but feeble.

Why throw yourself down a flight of stairs

The 51-year-old says that what he does is not so much purposely falling down concrete stairs as it is using the stairs and his own body weight to give his muscles a proper massage. Thus, all the rolling is intended to stimulate the pressure points in his body.

“I have always been a great fan of Chinese massage and the possibility that pressure points can do all sorts of things including relieving stress. After all, that’s why massage is so popular,” the man tells the press in a recent interview.

“However, I don’t believe that any masseuse will be able to give me the sort of massage I get from the impact of the stairs. I find it’s a great way to relieve pressure and has all sorts of other health benefits as well,” 51-year-old Li Chia adds.

The man says that he got into the habit of falling down stairs to massage his body after first rolling down pebbles at a health club and finding the experience quite enjoyable. When he no longer had access to the health club, he simply switched from using pebbles to rolling down concrete stairs.
