A man living in New Jersey, US, now stands accused of pretending to be his legally blind twin brother to get out of several traffic tickets he landed himself by behaving like anything but a model citizen behind the wheel.

What's interesting is that, as it turns out, this man does not even have a twin brother, let alone a legally blind one. Thus, it was a fictitious person that he impersonated looking to avoid being punished for his mistakes behind the wheel.

How the man pretended to be his blind twin brother

Reports say that, after racking up a whole lot of traffic tickets and being asked to make an appearance in front of a court of law on several occasions, 58-year-old Olawale Agoro did just that, except he did not go to court as himself.

Instead, he identified himself as Tony Agoro, supposedly Olawale Agoro's legally blind twin brother, and pleaded that his sibling's trial be postponed on the grounds that he was in Nigeria, mourning the loss of his father, or otherwise engaged.

Seeing how it often happens that folks come to court on behalf of their relatives, looking to set a new trial date for them, authorities ended up believing that the 58-year-old man standing in front of them was Olawale Agoro's legally blind twin brother.

Officers eventually figured out Tony did not really exist

Having managed to avoid handling his legal trouble for several months in a row, during which time he kept insisting that he was his blind twin, Olawale Agoro eventually ran out of luck when, while posing as Tony, he was asked to show authorities his papers.

Since 58-year-old Tony Agoro was merely the product of his imagination, Olawale had no papers to show. Soon enough, police officers also noticed a distinctive mark on his face, right under his lip, and so the supposed legally blind twin was exposed as a fraud, Daily Record informs.

Following this entire conundrum, Olawale Agoro has a tad more than just traffic tickets to worry about. In a nutshell, he now faces charges of resisting arrest, hindering apprehension and false swearing.
