The magic wheel, or magnetic wheel is a wheel that continues to spin for a time, after being started, as if by magic. Cool, huh? This device was invented in medieval Bavaria. It looked like a wagon wheel spinning on an axle, affixed to a base. The superstitious people of the time believed it spun by the power of magic. Today, we call it the power of... technology.

The secret of the magic wheel were several large magnets affixed to the wheel's outside rim, like the seats of a ferris wheel, while each magnet was backed by a lead plate 'seat'. An extra stationary magnet was affixed to the base.

As I see it, the magic wheel was an impressive invention for the Dark Ages, a time when even some European kings were illiterate. Today, things are not much different, just that the Wheel comes tuned in glossy metallic case and some sexy curvaceous shapes. But this seems to be the next in line when it comes to modest transportation. As we barely see a unicycle at circuses, the Magic Wheels plans to change that. Nimbus had also an attempt to create a 20 inch unicycle.

The Magic vehicle features all three forms of self-propelled transportation in a single mode of transport. Since it was designed by the Swiss, you probably imagine they used high quality material on it.

The Magic Wheel is said to be marketed in Great Britain first, starting this summer. The vehicle weighs 6.3 kilos and has a maximum height of 29 inches, with a wheel diagonal of 26'/20mm.

The Swiss fellows are said to use professional wheels for this device, as well as a high quality reinforced ABS plastic. Just make sure you're not weighting more than 150 kilos!
