This past Tuesday, a man living in Florida, US, was taken into police custody after calling emergency number 911 and asking for a ride to a local liquor store.

Apparently, the man was already inebriated, and knew better than to get behind the wheel and drive himself to the store. Unfortunately, arresting officers failed to take his good intentions into consideration.

Media reports say that the entire affair began when the man, identified as 34-year-old Adam Lanquist of Ocala, contacted authorities and told them that his girlfriend was behaving aggressively towards him.

More precisely, 34-year-old Adam Lanquist first called 911 to report that the apple of his eye was abusing him and to demand that the women be arrested and charged with domestic violence.

At first, 911 operators ignored him. However, seeing how the man kept dialing the emergency number, they eventually agreed to send a team of police officers to his house, New York Daily News informs.

When they got there, the officers found that both 34-year-old Adam Lanquist and his sweetheart had consumed a wee too much alcohol for their own good. Otherwise put, they were both kind of drunk.

Besides, the girlfriend, whose identity has not yet been shared with the public, was indeed being especially aggressive on that day. Hence, cops arrested the woman and brought her back to the station with them.

Not too long after his girlfriend was taken into custody on domestic violence charges, Adam Lanquist started having second thoughts about whether or not he did right when asking for help from authorities in the town of Ocala.

He grabbed his phone, and once again dialed 911. This time, he told the operator at the other end of the line that the woman had no business being behind bars, and that the cops who arrested her should have taken her to a rehab clinic rather than simply throw her in jail.

At one point, he asked that the police come pick him up and drive him to a nearby store, so that he might buy some more liquor. Officers drove by his house and picked him up alright, except that, instead of taking him shopping, they brought him with them to the station.

By the looks of it, 34-year-old Adam Lanquist was taken to Marion County Jail on $500 (€382) bail, and will soon have to answer before a court of law for his inappropriate use of emergency number 911. If found guilty, chances are that he will spend some time in jail.
