Gone are the times when having somebody break into your house was a reason to worry and call the cops. These days, some intruders are so friendly that they are ready and willing to cook you dinner.

Granted, it's your ingredients and stove that they'll use, but it's the thought that counts.

A man living in Rockland, US, found this out earlier this week, on Wednesday, when we woke up to find that somebody had broken into his home and was busy cooking corn in his kitchen.

A not-so-friendly chef

Local authorities say that, judging by evidence at hand, the intruder, identified as 69-year-old John Dalton, entered the house through a door that the owner forgot to lock before going to sleep.

Rather than trashing the house and stealing valuables, the man worked his way to the kitchen. Once there, he browsed through the cupboards and the fridge, and eventually settled on some corn that proceeded to cook on the house owner's stove.

Unfortunately, the 69-year-old made a wee too much noise, and so the stove's rightful owner woke up. The man jumped out of his bed and, after dialing 911, quickly walked downstairs only to find that an intruder was cooking corn in his kitchen, the Boston Globe reports.

Not at all surprisingly, the two man got into a fight, during which 69-year-old John Dalton managed to hit the house's owner several times. The good news is that the man did not suffer any serious injuries. Soon enough, the police arrived and the intruder was arrested.

What happened after the midnight cooking session

After being handcuffed, the 69-year-old was taken to a local police station. It was determined that, at the time he broke into the home, he was severely inebriated. Not that alcohol is ever an excuse, but chances are that drunkenness best explains his behavior.

The home owner, on the other hand, was taken to a hospital. He kept complaining about experiencing pains in one of his hips, but doctors concluded that there was no way to tell for sure whether these pains were the result of the fight with John Dalton or if maybe the man had an underlying medical condition.

Following this incident, 69-year-old John Dalton was put behind bars and accused of assault and battery, and breaking and entering. By the looks of it, he is still imprisoned and will soon have to make an appearance before a court of law. If found guilty of the charges filed against him, he will probably spend some time in jail.
