In high-school, image means a lot to you, and prom night outfits are something that you are assessed by, that can help define your social standing.

However, two students from Green Sea Floyd High School in South Carolina have decided to make their prom night about the future, donning duct tape ensembles to win a college scholarship.

Amber Squires and Kody Britt attended prom in a dress and tux fashioned out of light blue, gold, and black tape.

The teens have participated in the Stuck at Prom scholarship contest that gives out $5,000 (€3,890) in college money to both members of the winning prom couple as well as their school. The results of the competition will be announced in May.

“It was very uncomfortable. It was hot, it was like a sauna suit. But it was fun; I believe it was worth it,” Britt recalls for ABC News.
