Who would have thought that the recent scandal involving Phil Robertson's suspension from Duck Dynasty would actually help boost sales on their Christmas album? Certainly not the Robertsons. But, as it stands, a little controversy can help you get into the public eye faster than doing a good deed.

Recently released data shows that the “Duck the Halls: A Robertson Family Christmas” album sold 132,000 units in the week starting with December 22, which was a 22% increase over the previous week. It's worth noting that this number represents over half of the entire number of albums sold since it was released on the market back in October.

And since Phil is still headlining news this week, sales can expect to go even higher. A recent announcement yesterday by A&E saw the full reinstatement of family patriarch Phil Robertson on the show, proving that the huge popularity it enjoys among viewers outranks any moral dilemmas the TV network was having.

Other successful Duck Dynasty merchandise includes the book "Happy, Happy, Happy," which is ranked at number one in several categories on Amazon. This also explains why Southern restaurant chain Cracker Barrel chose to reintroduce Duck Dynasty merchandise on its shelves after briefly withdrawing it.

The bottom line is that Duck Dynasty currently sells.
