A new PS4 owner has decided to see the impact of the DualShock 4's LED on the controller's battery life and the result is that the small light actually consumes a lot of power.

The DualShock 4 battery life isn't the greatest, as PS4 owners have already found out since the next-gen console's launch on November 15 in North America.

In order to see just why the device consumes that much power, NeoGAF user xn0 decided to run a test between his two DualShock 4 controllers.

One was taken apart and the LED got disabled while the other pieces remained intact.

The result is that after a few hours, the LED DS4 had two out of three bars remaining, while the controller without the LED remained at three bars.

According to the user, the LED inside the device is way too powerful for what its intended use is, so Sony should provide an option to turn it off at some point in time in order to conserve battery life.
