DualCor's cPC Is a Computer ... and a Cellphone

DualCor's cPC blends Windows Mobile 5.0 and Windows XP in one device.

DualCor Technologies next month will unveil the cPC, a fully-fledged handheld Windows XP computer that also comes with a built-in smart phone that runs Windows Mobile 5.0.

Measuring
6.5x3.3x1.2 with a 5 inch diagonal screen, the DualCor cPC is a Windows XP Tablet Edition-based smartphone and is driven by a 1.5GHz C7-M processor, 1GB of DDR RAM 2 and packs a 40GB hard drive. The cell phone aspect of the device has Windows Mobile 5.0 Pocket PC phone edition, a PXA communications processor from Intel, 128MB of DRAM and 1GB of flash memory.

Users can also dock the cPC like a CPU, plugging it into an outlet and LCD screen. In full computing mode, the battery lasts about 3 to 4 hours, about the same as a standard laptop, but the device can run for 8 to 12 hours in "smartphone" mode.

The device - which will be shown at the Computer Electronics Show will become available in March 2006 and will cost about USD 1,500, although customers will get volume discounts for buying several at once.
