Indian company iBall has just released a new budget-friendly Andi 4.5 Ripple smartphone that comes in two versions, 2G and 3G. Both devices come with similar specs with one exception, hence the different prices.

As AndroidOS points out, there’s little reason to purchase the 2G variant given the fact that the price difference between the two devices is not that high at all.

According to iBall, the Andi 4.5 Ripple 4.5 2G is now available for purchase for only Rs 5,499 ($85 / €65) outright, whereas the 3G version can be had for Rs 6,399 ($100 / €75).

Obviously, those who don’t plan on taking advantage of 3G mobile data speeds will probably get the 2G version of Andi 4.5 Ripple, otherwise the release of two models doesn’t really make sense.

Anyway, it is worth mentioning that both devices ship with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box and pack 1.3 GHz dual-core processors, probably provided by MediaTek.

Customers in India will be able to choose two different colors for each Andi 4.5 Ripple model. The 3G version will be available in Special Wine with Gun Metal and Rich Matt White with Chrome, while the 2G model can be purchased in Special Grey with Gun Metal and Shiny White with Chrome.

On the inside, the smartphone comes equipped with only 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal memory, which can be further expanded up to 32GB via microSD memory card.

The phone also sports a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera with autofocus, LED flash and video recording, as well as a secondary VGA front-facing camera for video calls (3G model only).

Other highlights of the smartphone include 4.5-inch capacitive touchscreen display (480 x 854 pixels), FM Radio, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, 3.5mm audio jack, as well as 1500 mAh Li-Ion battery.
