14 DAY TRIAL // The affordable Stellar Mettle Icon Mi-506 from Spice Mobility appeared for the first time a few days ago when the Indian company announced a contest in which participants could win the smartphone.
From what we have seen in the official press photo that advertised the contest, the Spice Stellar Mettle Icon Mi-506 will feature metallic body, as well as rear-facing camera.
We also assume that the smartphone will ship with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box, given the fact that it’s an entry-level device.
The good news is that Spice seems to have slashed the initial suggested retail price of the Stellar Mettle Icon Mi-506. We reported a few days ago that Stellar Mettle Icon Mi-506 would be available for purchase for Rs 8,499 ($140 / €100).
However, according to AndroidOS, the smartphone is now available for only Rs 6,999, which is about $115 or €85.
The official announcement of the Spice Stellar Mettle Icon Mi-506 also contains some of the phone’s specs and from what we can tell, this is definitely an entry-level smartphone.
First of all, it’s been confirmed that Spice Stellar Mettle Icon Mi-506 will ship with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box.
Aside from that, Spice Mobility has announced that it has included some software tweaks inside the smartphone, so Indian users will be getting features like Pop-up Play, Intelligent Answer, Flip to Mute and Direct Call.
Specs-wise, Spice Stellar Mettle Icon Mi-506 comes equipped with a 1.3GHz dual-core processor, 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal memory, which can be further expanded up to 32GB via microSD memory card.
In addition, the smartphone sports a large 5-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports 854 x 480 pixels resolution. An enhanced 8-megapixel photo snapper has been included on the back of the phone, while in the front, there’s a secondary 1.3-megapixel camera for video calls.
It is also worth mentioning that the Spice Stellar Mettle Icon Mi-506 offers dual-SIM support and 3G connectivity, and it is powered by a 1800 mAh battery.
