The Indian smartphone market is flooded with affordable handsets every day, so here is another set of new budget-friendly handsets now available for purchase in the country, the Spice Stellar 449 3G and Stellar Mi-508.

According to fonearena, both smartphones are now available for purchase through HomeShop18 retailer for only Rs 4,999 ($80 / €60) outright. The Spice Stellar 449 3G is now available in grey and white color options, while the Stellar Mi-508 is only available in blue.

However, both smartphones, priced similarly, come with a free flip cover in the sales package. Aside from that, the Spice Stellar Mi-508 comes with some sort of kickstand on the back, which comes in handy when you want to watch videos.

Specs-wise, the smartphones are pretty different even though they cost the same. Anyway, here is what they have in common first.

Both Spice handsets ship with Android 4.4 KitKat operating system out of the box and feature dual-SIM capability with dual standby support.

In addition, the affordable Spice Stellar smartphones come equipped with 512MB of RAM, 4GB of internal memory and microSD card slots for storage expansion (up to 32GB).

Obviously, they both offer Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS with A-GPS support, microUSB, FM Radio and 3.5mm audio jack. These are all the features these smartphones have in common, so now let’s see what differentiates them.

First of all, Spice Stellar 449 3G sports a 4.5-inch IPS capacitive touchscreen display that supports 480 x 854 pixels resolution, while the Stellar Mi-508 comes with a slightly larger 5-inch display with the same resolution.

On the inside, the Stellar 449 3G is equipped with a 1GHz quad-core processor, whereas the Stellar Mi-508 is armed with more powerful 1.2GHz quad-core CPU.

Spice Stellar 449 3G packs a 3.2-megapixel photo snapper on the back with LED flash and video recording, but the Stellar Mi-508 comes with a much better 8-megapixel rear-facing camera with LED flash and video recording.

It’s also worth mentioning that the former features a 1.3-megapixel camera in the front, while the latter has a slightly better 2-megapixel front-facing camera. As the name suggests, Spice Stellar 449 3G offers 3G HSPA+ connectivity, while the Stellar Mi-508 packs only EDGE support.

Last but not least, the 3G smartphone is powered by a 1450 mAh battery, whereas the Stellar Mi-508 drains energy from a high-capacity 2000 mAh battery, both of which have yet to be rated by the manufacturer.
